Community Outreach

The Waunakee Fire Department participates in many community events throughout the year, each with the aim to create more awareness, participation and public relations with the citizens within our district and Dane County in general.

You may have seen our firefighters and fire apparatus at various parades (Waunafest being the local favorite), National Night Out, Relay for Life or escorting our Waunakee High School Warrior teams home from another state championship title.

Fire Prevention Week
In October each year during Fire Prevention Week, engine companies make several visits to Waunakee's elementary schools to help teach fire safety to grade-schoolers. Please contact our Fire Inspector if you would like to schedule a similar visit to your group.

Firefighter's Pancake Breakfast

Our annual firefighter pancake breakfast is in October and is the celebratory culmination of National Fire Prevention Week. After a busy week of visiting local students at school to educate them on the virtues and safety of fire prevention, we gather at the Waunakee Fire Station for a morning of breakfast and fun for the whole family.

Citizen's Academy
The Waunakee Emergency Services Academy will provide community members with an inside look at the Emergency Services Waunakee provides. During the 9-week academy, students will be introduced to emergency service operations and participate in many of the same training sessions officers go through every year. The academy is coordinated by the Waunakee Police Department. Contact the WPD for further information

Fire Station Tours
Tours of our station for families, groups or individuals can be arranged for in advance by calling the fire station at 608-849-5488 or emailing the Fire Inspector. You may also stop by anytime during normal business hours or whenever you see us hanging out at the station.

Block Parties
We love showing off our equipment and apparatuses. If you have a public event within the Village or District and would like us to bring a fire truck and crew for display and Q&A, please call the fire station at 608-849-5488 or email the Fire Inspector. The more notice, the better.
