    Kids are invited to help celebrate the 150th Anniversary of our Village at Ripp Park - South from 1:00-3:00pm on Friday, August 6. Join us for crafts, games, and snacks. The finale of our fun afternoon will be to create a giant 150 out of the smiling faces of the kids in our community. This is a free event but registration is required so we can plan accordingly. *Registration closes Wednesday, August 4 at 5:00pm.* FREE!

    Place brush on the terrace by 7:00 a.m. with the cut ends toward the road. Please leave branches as long as possible as this will save you and our crews' time. Brush is considered limbs and branches from trees and large shrubs. All other woody vegetation such as plant stalks, small bush trimmings, etc. will not be collected. This type of material can be taken to the compost site on Highway Q. south of the Village. If you have a contractor trim or prune your trees or bushes, they are responsible for the removal of the brush. Collection begins Monday and is completed within the week when Public Works has gone through the entire Village.

  5. National Night Out

    August 11, 2021, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Village Park

    The Waunakee Police Department hosts National Night Out every summer. The festivities are held at Village Park on Main Street. National Night Out celebrations take place in over 10,000 communities from all 50 states. National Night out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts;(3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are united with the police in their efforts to make Waunakee a safe community to live. At the event there are activities for kids, prizes, free brats and hot dogs, and numerous displays by various law enforcement agencies. Members of the community are encouraged to sign up to win one of the many prizes to be given away at Village Park during National Night Out.

  8. Nature Photography Workshop

    August 17, 2021, All Day @ Schumacher Farm Park

    The first half of this workshop consists of a presentation and discussion in the farmhouse, followed by a photo walk around the homestead and through our restored prairie lands. With an emphasis on assisting beginner and intermediate level photographers, Rona discusses the basics of nature photography techniques, light, composition, and photographic subjects to look for on the prairie and farmstead. Participants are encouraged to bring their camera equipment, comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and a spirit of collaboration as they explore the beauty of Schumacher Farm Park together.

  6. Chalk Walk - 2021

    August 18, 2021, All Day @ Village Park

    SIDEWALK ART Calling all artists! Join us 2:00-5:00 pm as we create a mural of sidewalk chalk art along the Village Park Drive. Artists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to register for a square along our mural path. A set of pastel chalks will be provided for each square. Pre-registration is required. Not an artist? Come down to the park any time after 5:30 pm to walk the path and view the artist’s creations before you take part in the color walk and dance party! COLOR WALK Have you heard of a Color Run? How about giving a Color Walk a try? This one-mile walk will be the most colorful and fun walk you have ever been on. As you walk the Village Park route you will be showered in powdered dye – turning you into a technicolor canvas of fun! The walk will begin at 6:00 pm rain or shine. Pre-registration is required and includes a walk t-shirt.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be limiting each program and registration is required. You can register your child online at http://www.waunakee.com/recreation or by calling the Village Center at 850-5992. There is no fee for this program but we do ask that you register at least 24 hours prior to each event. We are following the guidelines of Dane County Public Health. We will have hand sanitizer at each park, we will encourage social distancing. Please have your child bring their own, labeled water bottle and any other items that you feel might help with their safety. August 4 - Village Park - 500 E.   8. Fall Session 1 - Group Exercise Sign Up!

    The Village Center offers a complete schedule of group exercise classes in addition to the fitness center and walking track. Classes are offered throughout the week and are designed to accommodate all levels of participants. Current class offerings include: Yoga, Group Cycling, PIYO, SHAPE, TRX and various other classes.
